Keenan Allen 2013 NFL Draft Scouting Report

keenan allen cal

Player: Keenan Allen

Position: WR

College: California

Height: 6’2”

Weight: 206 lbs

40 Time: 4.71

Strengths

Solid pass catcher between the hash marks that has the ability to run well after the catch. Fearless when going to get the ball in the middle of the field, and has the agility and quickness to make the first defender miss. Possesses solid straight line speed, albeit not exceptional. Still adequate enough for him to develop into a threat all over the field.

Weaknesses

While he’s a willing blocker, he still could use plenty of work. Doesn’t run super crisp routes, seemingly rounding them off, but still being able to show burst in and out of them. Needs to learn to come back for the ball more, and bring the ball in with his hands, getting away with body catches. Poor timed speed and off-field issues are minor red flags.

Overall

Allen’s stock has slipped recently due to poor timed speed and some off-field drug issues, but he’s still arguably the most complete wide receiver in this draft. He’s NFL-ready and should be able to start and make an immediate impact right away in 2013.

Draft Range: Mid to Late 1st Round

Interested Teams: Rams, Vikings, Ravens

NFL Player Comparison: Jordy Nelson
