Monday Night Football Fantasy Versus: Texans vs. Jets

New York Jets

One of two unbeaten teams left in the NFL, the Houston Texans will put their record on the line as they travel to MetLife Stadium to take on the unraveling New York Jets. There are rumors out there that Tim Tebow will get an increased role in tonight’s game, but you’re not going to start him in fantasy until or if he becomes the starting quarterback.

You’re also probably not starting any Jets players in fantasy this week at all against a very tough match-up, but if you are here’s a look at some of the best match-ups in our Monday Night Football Fantasy Versus:

Quarterbacks

Matt Schaub (Texans) vs. Mark Sanchez (Jets)

No Darrell Revis should help Schaub, but I don’t think they’ll be passing the ball a whole lot.

Sanchez has nobody to throw the ball to, I really feel sorry for him. Tebow could be the spark this offense needs in this game.

I’ll take Schaub over Sanchez.

Running Backs

Bilal Powell (Jets) vs. Shonn Greene (Jets)

Arian Foster is a no-brainier over these two so let’s move on.

Looks like a scary match-up for both players, but the Texans did give up 141 yards rushing to the inept Chris Johnson last week, so anything is possible.

Greene is just not a very good running back and Powell did get the start last week, however Greene received 11 touches compared to Powell’s 4.

I think Powell can have a sneaky good game against a average run defense, and I’ll take him over Greene tonight.

Wide Receivers

Kevin Walter (Texans) vs. Chaz Schilens (Jets) vs. Jeremy Kerley (Jets)

You’re obviously starting Andre Johnson, and with Santonio Holmes (foot) out and Stephen Hill (hamstring) doubtful this is what’s left.

Walter has a decent match-up against Kyle Wilson tonight, but he’s not a lock for anything.

Kerley and Schilens will have every opportunity to prove themselves albeit against a nasty secondary. If you’re taking a gamble on one of these receivers I think it has to be Kerley, he has shown to be a decent fantasy receiver this year.

I’ll rank them Kerley, Walter, and Schilens.

Tight Ends

Owen Daniels (Texans) vs. Jeff Cumberland (Jets)

With Dustin Keller (hamstring) likely not to play, Cumberland will draw the start tonight.

Daniels continues to be one of the most consistent tight ends in the NFL, you just wish he’d get into the end-zone more often.

It’s Daniels and it’s not close.

Kickers

Nick Folk (Jets) vs. Shayne Graham (Texans)

Although he’s only made two field goals in the last two games, Graham still gets plenty of extra points chances.

I can’t invest in a kicker who’s team has a hard time scoring, I’ll take Graham.

Team Defenses

Houston Texans D/ST vs. New York Jets D/ST

We all know the struggles of the Jets offense, so you should feel pretty comfortable starting them this week.

I do think this game is closer then most people think, but I like the Houston defense a little bit more.
