Xavier Rhodes 2013 NFL Draft Scouting Report

Xavier Rhodes

Player: Xavier Rhodes

Position: Cornerback

College: Florida State

Height: 6’1”

Weight: 210 lbs

40 Time: 4.43

Strengths

Physical receiver with solid speed and aggressive tackling ability. Not afraid to throw himself into a group of bodies to shut down a play. Press coverage player that has the awareness to find his receiver at all times. Does a great job using his hands, and has excellent timing when finding a ball in the air. Will bat down a lot of passes, but won’t be a turnover machine. Very quick feet and hips that allow him to counter receiver cuts and breaks.

Weaknesses

Will need to work on tackling in the open field, and taking better angles. Not effective enough in zone coverage, and won’t play it much at the next level. Came back from a knee injury in 2011, and has battled very minor injuries.

Overall

Rhodes is a fluid corner with a dangerous blend of size and speed. His physical nature and good use of hands make him an excellent press/man candidate at the next level. He has first round talent and should be able to start from day one for his new team in 2013.

Draft Range: First round

Interested Teams: Broncos, Jets (many others)

NFL Player Comparison: Charles Tillman
